Lampard: We lost to Liverpool because of the aggression and ingenuity of Mohamed Salah

Everton coach Frank Lampard praised Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, stressing that he was the reason for Liverpool’s victory over the Toffees in the Merseyside derby yesterday.

Liverpool won the double of Robertson and Origi, after Mohamed Salah made the first goal for the Scottish player, an hour after the match with a goalless draw.

In his statements to the official website, Lampard said: “We faced Liverpool as it should, and they were unable to reach our goal during the first half, and we were the closest to scoring and taking the initiative.”

He added: “With Liverpool, you cannot leave them for a moment, and unfortunately that is what happened in Robertson’s first goal that opened the match.”

He pointed out: “Thanks to Mohamed Salah’s nature and ingenuity, he made the first goal and they were able to score the second after that, because they are of course an aggressive team and they exert pressure everywhere.”

He concluded: “I can only face Liverpool in this way, and we were the best for an hour, before Mohamed Salah made Robertson’s goal.”
